Job summary

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign seeks a Field Research Specialist for AgNUE & CABBI to perform field sampling and lab analyses in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams on campus.

This 12-month, full-time position supports AgNUE and CABBI research, offering hands-on fieldwork, data handling, and mentorship of students while advancing nitrogen-use efficiency and bioenergy research.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, chemistry, soil science, or related field.
• Research experience in the lab and field related to biogeochemistry or related disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Collect plant, soil, gas, and water samples from field sites and prepare supplies.
• Process and analyze samples in the laboratory.
• Assist with stable isotope tracer experiments and lab assays for carbon and nitrogen cycling.
• Organize, compile, and quality check datasets and process data with templates and R scripts.
• Order and inventory materials for CABBI and AgNUE activities.
• Supervise undergraduate students, including training and evaluating performance.
