University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign invites applications for a field research specialist in the Institute for Sustainability, Energy, and Environment. This in-person role supports the AgNUE project by conducting field and lab work, sampling, and data handling.

The position involves supervising undergraduates, using R for data analysis, and coordinating field campaigns with multi-disciplinary teams. Salary ranges from $45,000 to $50,000 plus benefits.

Competenze

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental science, chemistry, soil science, or related field.
• Research experience in the laboratory and in the field related to biogeochemistry or related disciplines (e.g., sampling, measurements, wet chemistry, gas chromatography).

Mansioni

• Collect plant, soil, gas, and water samples from field sites and prepare supplies for sampling campaigns.
• Install, maintain, repair, and troubleshoot gas analyzers, automated chambers, and soil sensors in the field.
• Process and analyze samples in the laboratory.
• Organize, compile, and quality check datasets; process data using spreadsheets and R scripts.
• Order and inventory materials and supplies for AgNUE activities.
• Supervise undergraduate students, including training and assigning work.
