Job summary

University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign is seeking a Field Research Specialist to support the AgNUE and CABBI projects. You will assist with fieldwork and lab experiments, collecting diverse samples and helping to advance nitrogen use efficiency and bioenergy research on campus.

The role requires in-person work on campus, some evenings and occasional weekends, and supervision of undergraduate assistants. A 12-month, full-time appointment with a competitive salary range is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology, environmental science, chemistry, soil science, or related field.
• Laboratory and field biogeochemistry experience.

Responsibilities

• Collect plant, soil, gas, and water samples from field sites and prepare supplies for sampling campaigns.
• Process and analyze samples in the laboratory.
• Assist with stable isotope tracer experiments and lab assays for carbon and nitrogen cycling processes.
• Organize, compile, and quality-check datasets and process data using spreadsheets and R scripts.
• Order and inventory materials and supplies for CABBI and AgNUE activity.
• Supervise undergraduate students, including training, assigning work, and tracking performance.
