Job summary

Q-Lab Corporation is seeking an experienced Field Repair Technician in the Sacramento, CA area to service the West Coast. The role focuses on hands-on electromechanical troubleshooting of lab instruments and providing repair support across North America.

Expect 50% travel, domestic and international as needed, with residence within driving distance of a major airport. You will diagnose failures, perform on-site repairs, and advise customers on solutions while upholding our customer-focused

Qualifications

• Electrical or mechanical apprenticeship with 5 years work experience.
• Experience with technical equipment, preferably in a laboratory setting.
• Ability to read and interpret documents, instructions and manuals.
• Diplomacy and tact in reporting non-conforming events to management with urgency.
• Proficient computer skills including Windows and CRM systems.
• Domestic and international travel experience and ability.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot malfunctioning lab instruments or test equipment and test mechanical/electronic components for root cause failures.
• Perform hands-on repair for malfunctioning lab instruments and test equipment, and test assemblies for conformance per manufacturer specifications.
• Travel domestically and internationally, up to 50% annually, to provide repair support to customers.
• Provide customers with phone/email recommendations to resolve instrument issues and arrange parts as needed.

Job description

Q-Lab Corporation is currently seeking an experienced Field Repair Technician in the Sacramento, CA area to primarily service the West Coast. If you have hand-on electromechanical troubleshooting skills and are passionate about being part of a truly customer-focused company, Q-Lab has an opportunity to take your technical skills to the next level! You will have the opportunity to service and repair world-class lab instruments for a diverse and industry-leading customer base all over North America!

This position requires ~50% travel and applicants must reside in reasonable driving distance of a major airport.

Responsibilities:

• Troubleshoot malfunctioning lab instruments or test equipment and test mechanical mechanisms and electronic circuitry for “root cause” failures.
• Perform hands-on repair for malfunctioning lab instruments or test equipment, and tests assembly for conformance, in accordance to manufacturer’s specifications.
• Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally, 50% of the time annually, to provide repair support to our direct market customers. This will include being away for up to a full week at a time as and when required.
• Provide customers with phone and email recommendations to resolve lab instrument issues and or follow up with on-going issues with the customer. This may include, but is not limited to: sending replacement parts, referring the information to the main home office for further guidance, or performing an on-site resolution.

Required Skills:

• Recognized Electrical or Mechanical Qualification with apprenticeship and 5 years work experience
• Work experience with technical equipment, preferably in a laboratory setting
• Competent to read and interpret documents, instructions and manuals
• Diplomacy and tact in reporting NCE (non-conforming events) to management – with urgency
• Highly proficient computer skills and typing – Windows environment and Microsoft applications and relevant CRM systems
• Domestic and International travel experience and ability
