Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Contractor in Charge to oversee railroad projects in Santa Rosa, CA, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. The CIC will lead field operations, coordinate with dispatchers, and enforce FRA rules while managing job briefings and reports.

Significant travel (50–85%) is required and a valid driver’s license is essential. This role demands 2+ years of railroad experience, focus on safety, and the ability to adapt to field conditions.

Qualifications

• Strong computer, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficient verbal and written communication.
• Valid driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a railroad company, preferably in maintenance of way or TY&E.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Conduct job briefings and ensure compliance with FRA regulations (49 CFR 214).
• Monitor track conditions, approach trains, and ensure personnel stay clear of active tracks and equipment.
• Communicate with train dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors to coordinate movements and permissions.
• Document all activities including briefings, incident reports, and daily logs for management and regulators.
• Enforce Railroad, State, and Federal policies.
