Job summary

Independence Excavating, Inc. is seeking a QC Technician to join our team in the Chicago area. You will perform field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, and related materials on active projects.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills and the ability to travel 100% as needed. A solid foundation with a High School Diploma and optional ACI Level 1 certification are preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• ACI Level 1 Field Technician Certification preferred or ability to obtain certification.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent verbal communication with internal teams.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Willing to travel 100% as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observation, testing, sampling, and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, and related materials.
• Execute testing activities on projects of moderate complexity with minimal supervision.
• Communicate daily with contractors, technicians, and project managers.
• Report on changing site conditions and additional testing needs to supervisors.
• Prepare accurate and detailed daily field reports documenting site conditions and results.
• Assist in resolving field-related issues and supports project execution.
