Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Field Mechanic, Pump to service, diagnose, and repair a range of pump systems at customer sites and branches. The role emphasizes mechanical and minor electrical work, with field travel to perform installations and emergency repairs.

Required are 2+ years as a pump/mechanic, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to read manuals and schematics. Overtime and on-call work may be needed; a CDL may be obtained if required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical school or trade certification preferred.
• 2+ years of experience as a mechanic, preferably in pump systems, heavy equipment, or diesel engines.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; ability to obtain CDL if required.
• Experience troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and minor electrical issues.
• Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, electrical schematics, and technical bulletins.
• Ability to travel within the assigned region.
• Availability for occasional overtime, on-call, and weekend work as business needs dictate.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of industrial pump systems, including diesel, electric, submersible, and centrifugal pumps, at customer sites and company branches
• Travel to job locations for emergency repairs, scheduled maintenance, and equipment installation
• Perform preventative maintenance and inspections on all assigned equipment
• Use diagnostic tools and technical manuals to determine equipment malfunctions
• Document work completed and parts used, and report any further service requirements
• Communicate effectively with customers and branch personnel regarding repair status and timelines
• Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in safe working order
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, environmental regulations, and Herc Rentals procedures
• Train end users or customers on the proper use and daily maintenance of pump equipment as required
• Participate in on-call rotations or emergency response schedules as assigned
