Job summary

RJS Grading is hiring a Construction Project & Operations Manager based in Raleigh, NC. You will lead grading and civil sitework crews, coordinate daily field activity, and monitor project cost and schedule to prevent overruns.

The role combines project management with daily operations leadership, reporting to the Owner, Robert. Expect field oversight across Wake County with occasional travel; standard hours run 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., seasonal variations.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated record of managing grading, earthwork, utilities, or civil sitework through completion.
• Ability to read civil plans and understand production rates, resource needs, sequencing, and job costs.
• Direct experience supervising grading/sitework crews, coordinating subcontractors, and communicating with customers.
• Practical spreadsheet and project-tracking skills with sound safety judgment.
• Willingness to travel between assigned sites and hold a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Take assigned jobs from award through closeout and review scope, plans, budget, and milestones.
• Build weekly work plans and daily crew/equipment/trucking assignments; coordinate materials and schedule changes.
• Lead field work through foremen; visit sites, verify progress, resolve issues, and track hours.
• Review production, costs, commitments, and remaining work weekly; update cost to complete and take action on overruns.
• Lead safety planning with field leaders; address hazards and maintain checks and incident reporting.
• Document changed conditions and scope changes; secure pricing and provide updates and billing support.
• Coach foremen and provide estimating feedback on production and sequencing.
