Job summary

Flatiron Construction Corp. is seeking a Field Engineer to lead technical efforts on projects, ensuring adherence to engineering standards, codes and contract specs.

You will work with project crews to verify materials, equipment and resources are aligned with the production schedule and budget. The role emphasizes reviewing shop drawings, coordinating with design and field teams, and maintaining quality and safety on site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.
  • 2+ years of construction engineering, scheduling or design experience required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of cost coding, cost savings, budget and other project financial implications.
  • Intermediate knowledge of scheduling processes and industry best practices.
  • Intermediate interpersonal relationship skills, building new positive relationships towards a common goal.
  • Knowledge of construction equipment & techniques, drawing & specifications, building materials and required standards applicable to the project.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others.
  • Knowledge of construction scheduling and production time management preferred.
  • Construction engineering experience or knowledge required.

Responsibilities

  • Meets daily with project crews to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment and resources are readily available for production to continue on schedule and within budget.
  • Collects, coordinates and analyses shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
  • Provides technical input for project work plan and scheduling and identifies risks that could impact budget or schedule.
  • Evaluates daily production, schedule and budget projections to track project performance and documents activities.
  • Remits accurate project quantity input and controls using cost coding to report financials; coordinates with finance teams.
  • Reviews and approves daily timecards for all Company construction crews and resolves inquiries with payroll and supervisors.
  • Reviews project specifications for QA at start, during, and after work; manages certificates, inspections and documentation.
  • Plans field layout with crews, marks utility/commercial lines before production, and initiates permits as needed.
  • Conducts Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and attends safety meetings with field team.
  • Coordinates subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.
