Job summary

Traylor Industrial in Tyler, TX is seeking a Project Engineer to support field leadership on multi‑discipline packages, including steel, mechanical and piping. You will work with clients, engineers and subcontractors to align objectives, schedules and costs while promoting safety and quality on site.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management, relocation to the project area, and the ability to read drawings and specs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent.
• Relocation to the project area is required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Interact with client, engineers, and subcontractors to align objectives, schedules, permits, and costs.
• Define and assemble steel, mechanical and piping work packages with the superintendent team.
• Monitor engineering and vendor information; perform material takeoffs and procure materials.
• Generate field material requests.
• Apply piping and mechanical engineering concepts, codes and procedures.
• Review project proposals to determine timeframes, funding, staffing and resources.
• Review drawings, PID/isometrics, mechanical schematics, and specifications.
• Manage RFIs, submittals and change orders.
• Conduct walkdowns and record progress in the field progress system.
• Assist turnover with proper documentation including as-builts.
• Prepare cost estimates for change orders and negotiate with client.
• Maintain accurate field engineering records.
• Support Project HSE Plan implementation.
• Coordinate inspections and field communications with subcontractors.
• Identify and resolve field technical issues.
