Job summary

Yates Construction invites a Field Project Controller to support on-site financial and operational activities in the Jackson, MS area. You will assist the Lead Field Controller, manage vendor payables, track weekly quantities, and help prepare owner estimates to ensure accurate client billing.

This role requires 2–4 years of experience in project controls or heavy field accounting, and the ability to work both on site and at the office.

• Serve as back-up Clerk: provide cross-trained coverage for field payroll entry and site document control.

Field Project Controller (Jackson, MS Area)

The Field Project Controls professional provides critical financial and operational support on-site, directly assisting the Lead Field Controller. This role is responsible for ensuring financial accuracy and budget integrity by managing vendor and trucker accounts payable, processing owner progress estimates, and tracking weekly quantities. Additionally, this individual assists with cost and revenue projections and serves as the primary back-up to the Job Site Clerk, ensuring seamless project continuity.

Key Responsibilities

Financial & Accounts Payable Management

• Process vendor payables: Review, code, and reconcile invoices from material vendors, subcontractors, and equipment rental suppliers against field purchase orders.
• Manage trucker logistics: Verify and audit haul tickets, daily trip logs, and third-party trucking invoices to ensure accurate quantity tracking and timely payment processing.

Revenue & Progress Tracking

• Enter owner estimates: Assist in compiling, verifying, and entering monthly or milestone progress estimates to facilitate accurate client billing and timely cash flow.
• Log weekly units: Input and track weekly quantities and production units in place, comparing field performance against budgeted baselines.

Forecasting & Reporting Support

• Assist projections: Collaborate with the Lead Field Controller to gather field data, analyze cost variances, and formulate monthly cost-to-complete and revenue projections.
• Monitor job costs: Review daily labor, equipment, and material cost allocations to identify and report budget discrepancies early.

Site Operational Continuity

• Serve as back-up Clerk: Provide seamless, cross-trained coverage for the Job Site Clerk, stepping in to handle field payroll entry, new hire onboarding, and site document control when necessary.

Required Qualifications & Skills

Education & Experience

• 2–4 years of project controls, cost engineering, or heavy field accounting experience , preferably in heavy civil, industrial, or large-scale commercial construction.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen with a “Negative” result.
• Must be able to complete a post- offer physical with a “Capable” result
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Be willing to work outdoors in extreme temperatures, both hot and cold
• Experience preferred Work Environment:

This role operates in both office and active construction site environments. Candidate must be able to perform site walks, attend field meetings, and ensure on-site safety and compliance.
