Job summary

Wheeler Machinery Co. in Vernal, UT is seeking an EPG Field Technician to install, start-up and commission power generation equipment. This full-time role requires on-site work, travel to job sites, and strong safety discipline.

You will manage project documentation, train customers, and coordinate with sales, vendors and engineers to keep milestones and budgets on track. Qualified candidates have a CDL, experience with Caterpillar power systems, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

• Must have CDL.
• Firm understanding of Caterpillar electric power generation systems and components.
• Experience with start-up and commissioning of power generation system components.
• Experience working with customers, contractors, specifications, change orders, and contract documents.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and a positive attitude.
• Ability to work independently with little supervision and as part of a team.
• Excellent time management and task prioritization skills.
• Willingness to work hours required by project deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate with PSD Sales, Project Management, and Service personnel.
• Proficient with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook).
• Valid Utah Driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation and start-up/commissioning tasks on all Wheeler equipment.
• Engine/Generator Start-up, ATS/Switchgear Start-up, Emission Control Start-up, Fuel Systems Start-up.
• Develop and perform customer operation and maintenance training.
• Pull trailers to and from locations during overhauls.
• Troubleshooting and repair of large Caterpillar gas compression engines (3600/3500).
• Manage project documentation (submittals, drawings, manuals, etc.).
• Keep the project on schedule and meet deadlines.
• Ensure all project specifications are adhered to.
• Maintain or improve project profitability by managing expenses and change orders.
• Coordinate all aspects of the project with sales, vendors, manufacturers, customers, contractors, and engineers.
• Provide on-site assistance and oversight of installation; document safety compliance and meeting notes.
• Represent Wheeler at project meetings and day-to-day activities on site.
• Overnight travel to job sites; international travel is optional.
