Job summary

Interstate Power Systems is seeking a Field Power Generation Technician/Mechanic to diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel-powered generators in the field across Nebraska locations including Kearney, Grand Island, Norfolk, and Fremont.

This role requires a high school diploma, 3 years’ experience with industrial power generation, the ability to work independently, and a strong customer-service mindset. You must supply your own tools and be able to pass a DOT physical.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with industrial power generation sets.
• Experience with diesel and natural gas engines, electrical switchgear, and automatic transfer switches.
• Must have own set of general tools.
• Ability to work with diagnostic computers and repair orders.
• Positive attitude and strong customer relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all makers of generators.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on generators at customer sites.
• Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify components of the generator, engine, and switchgear.
• Maintain positive interactions with service writers, foremen, parts, and customers.
• Meet certification requirements and perform administrative duties related to the role.
