Job summary

Interstate Power Systems is seeking experienced Field Power Generation Technicians/Mechanics for multiple locations in Nebraska. You will diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel-driven generators in the field, ensuring reliable operation and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities include routine inspections, troubleshooting complex issues, and implementing safety standards across diverse field conditions. A strong tool set and clean driving record are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with industrial power generation sets.
• Experience with diesel and natural gas engines, electrical switchgear, and automatic transfer switches.
• Must have your own set of general tools.
• Ability to use diagnostic computers for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Proficient with web-based training and repair order systems.
• Physically able to lift and work with no restrictions.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass a D.O.T. Physical.

Interstate Power Systems is expanding across Nebraska and Iowa and is seeking experienced Field Power Generation Technicians/Mechanics to support our growing customer base. This role focuses on generator service, maintenance, and repair, with opportunities available in multiple locations. We offer highly competitive wages and a dynamic field-based work environment.

As a Field Power Generation Technician/Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing power generation systems – primarily diesel-driven generators – to ensure reliable and efficient operation. You'll work directly in the field, responding to customer needs, performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical issues, and completing repairs safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities include monitoring generator performance, conducting routine inspections and maintenance, identifying and resolving technical issues, and supporting system upgrades to improve performance and reliability. You will also play an important role in maintaining safety standards and helping implement best practices while working in a variety of field conditions.
