Job summary

Blue Peak Tents, Inc. is seeking candidates for a Project Manager Apprenticeship Program in the Chicagoland area. You’ll join the field operations team and learn all aspects of leading premium event projects from start to finish.

Phase progression from Apprentice to Associate PM and then Project Manager, with hands-on field learning, mentorship, and upward mobility. Starting pay is $80k with potential to reach $100k as you advance, plus comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

Substantial hands-on trade experience in construction, rigging, event production, or related skilled trades.
Proven ability to lead or work within a crew in demanding environments.
Valid Illinois driver’s license with clean record at time of application.
Standard Illinois Class C license required within 30 days of hire.
Class B CDL pathway opens after 6 months; training and fees covered by Blue Peak.

Responsibilities

Install, maintain, and tear down tents, structures, flooring, and sidewalls with PMs and Crew Leaders.
Learn temporary event power setup, generator placement, cable runs, and coordination with electricians on site.
Develop HVAC knowledge for enclosed structures, including ducting and airflow.
Understand lighting tie-ins, cable management, safety clearances, and system integration on live events.
Assess tent top condition, inventory quality, and material readiness for events.
Learn anchoring methods: staking, water barrels, concrete anchors for site-specific conditions.
Drive company vehicles to job sites; operate within Illinois regulations; logistics coordination with warehouse/dispatch.
Progressively take ownership of full project lifecycles from production review to post-teardown.
Communicate with clients, event planners, and internal teams at high-end venues.
Lead and develop crew members toward a capable second-in-command.
