Job summary

Acuren is seeking a PLI Technician for operations in Akron, OH. The role covers field inspections, data review, and reporting to support pipeline integrity programs. About 90% of time will be in the field, at remote sites, and traveling across the US; 10% at the home division location.

The technician will work independently for extended periods, with emphasis on safety, compliance, and accurate documentation of inspection results.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Some college coursework preferred.
• Technical background desirable.
• Experience in pipeline integrity or maintenance roles.
• Strong knowledge of safety requirements and QA.
• Current Magnetic Particle Testing Level 2 and Ultrasonic Thickness Level 2.
• Preferred: NACE CIP Level I / CP Level I.

Responsibilities

• Adherence to procedures and reports.
• Direct assessment of pipe condition including coating, soils, and CP.
• Examine pipe for cracks, corrosion, and manufacturing anomalies.
• Correlate features to ILI logs.
• Perform fit-for-service evaluations per ASME B31.3 and RSTRENG.
• Conduct hazard assessments prior to work.
• Calibrate and set up NDE equipment.
• Provide clients with timely quality services.
• Maintain pipeline integrity databases and reports.
• Train PLI assistants and junior technicians.
