Job summary

NextGenEnergyJobs is seeking a field service technician to support solar PV systems, troubleshoot warranty and service issues, and document findings. You will work closely with the Construction Supervisor and Engineering team to resolve redlines and ensure quality service.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• 1–3 years field construction or solar experience required.
• PV design or PV electrical experience preferred.
• Electrical Journeyman certification or license preferred; may be required by state.
• Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards.
• Strong customer service track record.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to read single-line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter.
• Adherence to safety policies and hazard reporting.
• Results-driven with ability to work independently or in a team.

• Ensure timely communication and completion of service and warranty work with safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Develop and refine processes and gain technical skills for residential PV systems to prepare for advanced skills (FPT2).

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve solar electric warranty and service issues that arise with: modules, inverters, monitoring and balance of system components
• Investigate and mitigate any reported roof leaks including thorough documentation: complete roof leak checklist, photos and written observations
• Communicate with the Construction Supervisor, and Engineering Team members to resolve any redline issues
• Receive, update and complete Field Service Dispatches (FSDs) with Service Dashboard in Salesforce
• Ensuring the timely communication and completion of service and warranty work with an emphasis on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
• Develop and refine processes and gain technical skills related to service work for residential solar photovoltaic systems following department policy to prepare for advanced technical skills as FPT2.

Requirements

• High School diploma is required
• 1 - 3 years of previous field construction or solar experience required
• PV design or PV electrical experience is preferred
• Valid state or local Electrical Journeyman certification or license preferred. Depending on state requirements an Electrical Journeyman certification or license may be required
• Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards
• Must be a motivated team player, looking to succeed

• Electrical/PV Installation Knowledge: Working knowledge of current NEC codes. Ability to interpret single line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter. Demonstrates knowledge of electrical principles as it pertains to solar interconnection/tie-in and code and how PV systems operate. Understands interconnection activities. Understands basic construction principles.
