Job summary

Stantec Consulting International Ltd. is seeking on-call Paleontological Technicians for field monitoring, surveys, fossil collection and data collection on short- and long-term projects.

The role requires travel and occasional night work, with outdoor field conditions and physical exertion. Candidates should have a paleontology- or geology-related degree and at least two years of field experience; training is provided for those without construction monitoring experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in paleontology, geology, or biology with field training in paleontology and sedimentary geology.
• Minimum of 2 years’ field experience in paleontology and sedimentary geology; can substitute academic training.
• Travel, night work, and outdoor work; exposure to elements and weather; physical exertion as described.
• Occasional hiking up to 4–6 miles per day with backpack.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Detailed and accurate field data collection and daily progress reports using the company’s data system.
• Communicate with supervisors and follow instructions.
• Assist with drafting portions of reports when required.
• Adhere to safety procedures and professional standards.
