The role emphasizes organizing, leadership development, and broad engagement across member programs, bargaining, and political action. The position requires collaboration with NEA and AFT partners, travel as needed, and a commitment to anti-racist practices, with a starting salary range aligned to the current

Qualifications

• Experience in education issues, collective bargaining, and grievance processing.
• Understanding of organizing principles and labor relations.
• Ability to collaborate in a team environment.
• Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills.
• Experience handling confidential information.
• Strategic thinking and problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice, training, and professional assistance to members and locals.
• Develop organizing plans and assist in worksite organizing infrastructure.
• Recruit participants for Education Minnesota events, trainings, and conferences; assist in organizing unorganized education employees.
• Support locals in all stages of the bargaining process and coordinate with Negotiations Department; NEA and AFT.
• Strive to guarantee members' rights and train local leaders in rights advocacy; prepare for investigations and grievance proceedings.
• Apply an anti-racist lens and promote local engagement with racial equity and social justice issues.
• Develop internal and external communications plans; guide communications efforts.
• Encourage and support local lobbying and political action; coordinate with legislators; campaigns involvement.
• Provide relevant information on education issues and train members using adult-learning best practices.
• Engage in collaborative staff teamwork and anti-racist trainings; foster inclusive culture.
