Job summary

SAN ANTONIO RIVER AUTHORITY in San Antonio, TX seeks an Operations Technician I to maintain recreational features and trails along the Mission Reach, Museum Reach and San Pedro Culture Park. The role involves outdoor maintenance, equipment operation, and safety adherence.

Expect routine repairs, debris removal, and some heavy lifting while following safety policies and reporting hazards. High school diploma or GED and basic certifications are required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED and less than 1 year of experience operating landscape or agricultural equipment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to attain a Handlers Verification Card within six months of employment
• Obtain CPR/First Aid Certification
• Confined space entry certification within one year of employment
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and an insurable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Maintains public recreational features including trails, benches, picnic tables, pavilions, foot bridges, signage, and artwork; operates a pressure washer; cleans buildings and replaces water feature pumps; removes graffiti as needed.
• Performs routine litter pickup and debris removal in project areas requiring canoe or kayak access.
• Manually loads trucks with sand, gravel, or waste material.
• Operates service barge and tractor with trailer to access river areas safely.
• Deploys absorbent booms to collect contaminants in the river.
• Operates, maintains, and repairs equipment such as power tools, mowers, tractors, and vehicles; conducts routine maintenance checks.
• Responds to emergencies and performs on-site repairs.
• Troubleshoots, repairs, and replaces hydraulic gate components and lighting with supervision.
• Maintains records for hazardous materials and safety data sheets.
• Performs related work as required.
