Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, CS or related field.
• 5+ years of experience supporting IT infrastructure or data centers.
• Experience managing MDF and IDF technology rooms.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, VMware, Cisco, Wi-Fi, VoIP, and data center operations.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools.
• Excellent troubleshooting and communication skills.
• Ability to travel between sites and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain IT spaces (MDF/IDF) and data center environments.
• Monitor operations to ensure availability of infrastructure equipment.
• Install and maintain UPS, PDUs, and power systems.
• Perform hardware installation, relocation, and decommissioning.
• Rack, stack, and cable servers, switches, routers, and devices.
• Coordinate with vendors and internal teams for asset lifecycles.
• Maintain asset inventories and documentation.
• Perform network patching and connectivity testing.
• Assist with circuit cutovers and infrastructure upgrades.
• Troubleshoot with network/server/telecom teams; ensure clean rooms.

Job Summary

STAFFXPERT LLC is seeking a Field Operations Specialist on behalf of our client in New York, NY. This position is ideal for a hands-on IT infrastructure professional with experience supporting data centers, network environments, and technology facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining IT operations rooms, managing hardware installations, supporting infrastructure projects, and ensuring the reliability of critical technology systems across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain IT technology spaces, including MDF, IDF, and data center environments.

• Monitor daily operations and ensure the availability and performance of infrastructure equipment.

• Install, configure, and maintain UPS systems, PDUs, and other power management equipment.

• Perform hardware installation, replacement, relocation, and decommissioning activities.

• Rack, stack, and cable servers, switches, routers, wireless devices, and other infrastructure components.

• Coordinate equipment deliveries, replacements, and support activities with vendors and internal teams.

• Maintain accurate asset inventories and documentation for technology equipment.

• Perform network patching, connectivity testing, and infrastructure support tasks.

• Assist with circuit cutovers, hardware refresh initiatives, and infrastructure upgrades.

• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues in partnership with network, server, and telecom teams.

• Ensure technology rooms remain clean, organized, and compliant with operational standards.

• Travel to multiple sites as required to support infrastructure operations.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

• 5+ years of experience supporting IT infrastructure, field operations, or data center environments.

• Experience managing MDF and IDF technology rooms.

• Strong understanding of:

  • Windows Server environments

  • VMware virtualization

  • Cisco networking equipment

  • Wireless networking (Wi-Fi)

  • VoIP systems

  • Data center operations

  • UPS and power distribution systems

  • Desktops, laptops, and mobile devices

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Visio, and related collaboration tools.

• Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and effectively in fast-paced environments.

• Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Willingness to travel between multiple work sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise-scale infrastructure environments.

• Familiarity with hardware lifecycle management and refresh projects.

• Knowledge of environmental monitoring systems and facility infrastructure.

• Experience working with third-party vendors and service providers.

• Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Cisco, Microsoft, or related infrastructure credentials are a plus.
