Job summary

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency seeks an Environmental Protection Specialist IV (Working Supervisor) to lead the Field Operations Section in Champaign and provide technical expertise on hydrology and water pollution control.

The role involves directing site inspections, reviewing complex technical documents, supervising professional staff, and providing technical assistance on wastewater treatment facility compliance and permitting issues.

Qualifications

Two years supervisory experience in pollution abatement or related field.
Two years conducting inspections of municipal and industrial wastewater treatment facilities and interpreting water pollution control laws and regulations.
Experience reviewing technical documents for NPDES permitting, facility plans, and related water pollution control requirements.
Three years experience supervising professional staff preferred.
Three years of engineering experience interpreting water pollution control laws and permit requirements preferred.
Bachelor's degree in physical, life, environmental sciences, engineering, or geology

Responsibilities

Lead the Field Operations Section in Champaign.
Direct site inspections and review complex technical documents.
Supervise professional staff and provide technical assistance on wastewater treatment facility compliance and permitting.
Apply advanced knowledge of water pollution control regulations and NPDES permitting procedures.
