Job description

Who We Are

Alpine Tree Service is a high-growth, full-service tree care company serving residential and commercial clients across New Jersey. We operate with a focus on safety, professionalism, accountability, and execution, following ANSI standards and delivering a premium customer experience.

We are building a team of professionals, not just workers.

The Role

The Field Operations & Equipment Supervisor helps coordinate Alpine’s daily field operations and serves as the primary connection between the COO, field leads, field crews, office staff, and customers.

This is not a desk-only supervisory position. You will spend time in the yard and in the field, ensuring crews have the people, equipment, vehicles, tools, materials, and information needed to complete each job safely and efficiently.

You will monitor job progress, respond to changing field conditions, help resolve operational issues, and serve as a customer point of contact when questions or follow‑up needs arise. You must be organized, mechanically inclined, comfortable making decisions, and willing to assist crews when needed.

What You’ll Do

As Alpine’s Field Operations & Equipment Supervisor, you will:

  • Assist the COO with coordinating and organizing the daily schedule for multiple field crews.
  • Review upcoming jobs and determine the appropriate crews, equipment, vehicles, tools, and materials required.
  • Review daily routes and visit active job sites to monitor safety, quality, efficiency, and customer experience.
  • Clearly communicate daily assignments, expectations, job details, and schedule changes to field leads and crew members.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the COO, field leads, field crews, office staff, and customers.
  • Monitor job progress throughout the day and help resolve scheduling, equipment, customer, and site‑related issues.
  • Respond to urgent field needs and make practical decisions that keep jobs moving without compromising safety or quality.
  • Verify that crews follow company safety procedures, job specifications, property‑protection standards, and operational expectations.
  • Inspect vehicles and equipment and promptly report maintenance or repair needs.
  • Help coordinate equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and replacement equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Safely operate basic tree‑care and landscaping equipment, including chainsaws and blowers.
  • Perform or coordinate minor property repairs and restoration resulting from fieldwork, including:
    • Fence repairs
    • Minor driveway and concrete repairs
    • Basic landscaping
    • Grass seeding and lawn restoration
    • Planting and property cleanup
  • Serve as a professional customer point of contact on job sites, addressing questions and coordinating follow‑up when needed.
  • Complete daily reporting for the COO and office team, including job status, delays, equipment issues, property damage, crew concerns, and required follow‑up.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and communicate important information promptly.
  • Support crews in the field when operational needs require additional help.
How We Operate

At Alpine, leadership is demonstrated through actions—not titles. Here is what our core values look like in this role:

Actively Seek Knowledge

You continue learning about field operations, equipment, safety standards, crew development, and better ways to execute our work. You ask questions, accept feedback, and help others improve.

Think Ahead to Solve Problems

You review jobs before crews leave the yard, anticipate equipment and staffing needs, identify potential hazards, and address problems before they disrupt the day.

Be Adaptable

Schedules change. Weather changes. Equipment breaks. Customer needs evolve. You adjust quickly, communicate clearly, and keep operations moving without lowering Alpine’s standards.

Loyalty to the Team

You support the crews, communicate honestly with leadership and the office, and hold people accountable. You do not leave teammates without the information, tools, or support they need to succeed.

Have the Motivation to Be the Best

You take ownership of results and follow through until issues are resolved. You care about the condition of our equipment, the quality of our work, the customer’s property, and the reputation of Alpine Tree.

Required Qualifications
  • Previous experience supervising or coordinating field crews, preferably in tree care, landscaping, construction, property maintenance, or a related industry.
  • Strong organizational, scheduling, routing, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple crews and manage changing priorities throughout the day.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of basic landscaping, property repairs, equipment, or general maintenance.
  • Knowledge of how to safely operate a chainsaw and blower.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with field employees, leadership, office staff, and customers.
  • Comfortable using a smartphone, email, scheduling software, and basic reporting systems.
  • Valid and insurable driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to report to work early when operations require it.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift, carry, bend, climb, and perform physical work as needed.
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is a plus:

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Tree‑care industry experience.
  • Snow‑plowing experience.
  • Stump‑grinder operating experience.
  • Knowledge of landscaping and property‑restoration practices.
  • Experience routing crews or coordinating multiple jobs across different locations.
  • Experience completing minor fence, driveway, concrete, lawn, or landscape repairs.
  • Mechanical aptitude or experience coordinating equipment maintenance and repairs.
What Success Looks Like

Success in this position means:

  • Crews begin the day with a clear plan and the correct equipment, vehicles, tools, and materials.
  • Field leads understand their assignments and expectations.
  • Safety procedures and property‑protection standards are consistently followed.
  • Equipment issues are identified early, documented, and resolved with minimal downtime.
  • Customers receive clear, professional communication and timely follow‑up.
  • Problems are addressed before they create unnecessary delays or confusion.
  • The COO and office staff remain informed throughout the day.
  • Commitments are followed through to completion—nothing important falls through the cracks.
Who This Role Is For

This position is a strong fit for someone who:

  • Takes ownership without waiting to be reminded.
  • Is highly organized and pays attention to details.
  • Enjoys being in the field and solving practical problems.
  • Communicates early when something changes or goes wrong.
  • Can hold crews accountable while maintaining their trust and respect.
  • Is comfortable building relationships with customers.
  • Takes pride in keeping people, equipment, and jobs organized.
  • Wants to grow with a company that promotes accountability, professional development, and operational excellence.

This may not be the right fit if you prefer a desk‑only management role, avoid difficult conversations, wait for others to solve problems, or are uncomfortable being accountable for follow‑through.
