Experienced Tree Climber
Alpine Tree Service is a high-growth, full-service tree care company serving residential and commercial clients across New Jersey. We operate with a focus on safety, professionalism, and execution — following ANSI standards and delivering a premium customer experience. We are building a team of professionals, not just workers.
Who We Are
Alpine Tree Service is a high-growth, full-service tree care company serving residential and commercial clients across New Jersey. We operate with a focus on safety, professionalism, and execution — following ANSI standards and delivering a premium customer experience. We are building a team of professionals, not just workers.
The Role
The Tree Climber is responsible for safe, efficient execution of tree removals and pruning operations. This is a production role. You are expected to move with purpose, think ahead, and contribute to the overall performance of the crew — not just complete tasks.
What You'll Do
As a Tree Climber at Alpine, you'll be responsible for:
- Performing technical tree climbing for removals, pruning, and rigging
- Executing all work in accordance with ANSI Z133 safety standards
- Working in coordination with crane operators and ground crew
- Setting up and managing rigging systems efficiently
- Maintaining strong situational awareness on active job sites
- Inspecting and maintaining climbing gear and equipment
- Contributing to jobsite efficiency, organization, and cleanup
- Communicate up to office and Sales Arborists on scope changes, site issues, or schedule shifts
- Communicating clearly with crew and leadership
How We Operate
- Actively Seek Knowledge: You are constantly improving your climbing, rigging, and safety knowledge. If you're doing things the same way you did a year ago, you're falling behind.
- Think Ahead to Solve Problems: You plan your climbs, anticipate cuts, and understand the next three moves before you make the first one. Mistakes in this role come from poor planning — not bad luck.
- Be Adaptable: Every tree, property, and job is different. You adjust quickly and keep production moving. Rigid climbers slow down crews and create risk.
- Loyalty to the Team: You show up prepared, communicate clearly, and support your crew. No ego. No shortcuts. No leaving others exposed.
- Have the Motivation to Be the Best: You take pride in your work, move with urgency, and push to improve your output and skill.
Qualifications
This role is for experienced climbers with production-level skills. Here's the bar:
- Minimum 3+ years tree climbing experience (production environment)
- Valid and insurable driver's license
- Experience with rigging and removals
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to follow and execute work orders via mobile systems
- Ability to work in a physically demanding, fast-paced environment
- English proficiency
- Authorized to work in the United States
Preferred:
- Crane climbing experience
- CDL (strongly preferred)
- ISA Arborist Certification
