Join Sonshine as a Field Operations Assistant, a full-time, hourly role providing hands-on cleaning and operational support across customer locations. Reporting to the General Manager, you will cover open cleaning assignments, complete deep-cleaning projects, deliver supplies, and help train employees. This is a non-supervisory position: you will personally complete assigned work, independently or alongside an Operations Manager. Sonshine provides account-specific training and a six-hour pay guarantee per scheduled workday. Typical hours are approximately 4:00 PM to midnight, Monday through Friday; assignments and locations may change, and occasional morning work may require a split shift.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize coverage for employee call-offs and open cleaning positions, completing the account’s full cleaning scope, including vacuuming, mopping, restroom cleaning, trash removal, dusting, and disinfecting.
- Learn customer account requirements through training, follow account run sheets and cleaning checklists, and report inaccurate or missing instructions.
- Complete detailing, deep cleaning, periodic cleaning, setup and cleanup, and other assigned projects when coverage is not needed.
- Prepare, load, transport, and place cleaning supplies and equipment at customer locations as directed.
- After completing Sonshine’s trainer preparation, demonstrate cleaning procedures, support new employees, document training, and communicate progress or concerns. Management retains supervisory authority and final training sign-off.
- Safeguard keys, badges, alarm codes, and confidential access information; unlock, disarm, and secure facilities as assigned.
- Keep cleaning equipment clean and properly stored, replace vacuum bags and filters as needed, and report damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
- Follow safety procedures, company processes, and management instructions while balancing cleaning quality with efficient completion.
- Confirm assignment completion with the General Manager and responsible Operations Manager, remain responsive to calls and texts during working hours, and accurately record all working time in Connecteam.
- Communicate customer concerns and additional requests to management without independently changing service commitments, employee assignments, or account scope.
- Report to the Centerville office or a customer location as directed. Company vehicles are generally used for significant travel between locations; limited personal vehicle use may occasionally be necessary.
Qualifications
- Commercial cleaning experience is preferred, not required; training is provided.
- Dependability, punctuality, a positive attitude, and a willingness to help wherever support is needed.
- Ability to adapt to changing assignments, locations, and priorities, including occasional morning assignments or split shifts.
- Ability to work independently after training, follow written and verbal instructions, and read account run sheets and cleaning checklists.
- Effective communication skills and ability to use Connecteam and basic mobile communication tools.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Ability to perform physically active cleaning work, including standing and walking for most of a shift, bending, kneeling, reaching, climbing stairs, pushing and pulling equipment, repetitive movements, and lifting or carrying approximately 30 pounds as needed.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Successful completion of Sonshine’s required drug screening.
