Job summary

UGI Utilities, Inc. is seeking an entry-level helper to support field operations in Shippensburg, PA. You will assist with meter reading, flagging, and basic construction tasks under supervision, with safety as a priority. A path toward Operator Qualification is provided with on-the-job training.

The successful candidate will live in the service area and obtain a CDL A within six months, with opportunities for growth in a safety-focused team and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Must pass SCBA test and pre-employment drug test.
• Follow all safety policies and protect company assets.
• General computer knowledge required.
• Maintain a valid driver’s license during employment.
• Knowledge of equipment operation and basic construction work.
• Mechanical ability and capability for physical labor.

Responsibilities

• Read residential and commercial meters and record readings.
• Survey and flagging for field operations.
• Gas main service installations and repair work.
• Operate backhoe, trencher and dump truck as needed.
• Locate lines and manage inventory control.
• Perform meter turns on/off and leak investigations.
• Do basic pipefitting and emergency response when qualified.
• Perform other work as directed once qualified.
• Work in confined spaces as required.
