Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an Entry Level Field/Office Engineer to join the Eastern District. You will support field crews with drawings, plans, and surveys while coordinating safety, scheduling, and cost reporting across multiple sites in the Great Lakes/Northeast region.

Expect travel, site exposure, and rapid learning on diverse civil projects. Responsibilities span field and office engineering, estimating support, and documentation.

Qualifications

• 0-1 years of related professional experience in the construction field.
• Ability to travel and relocate as required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Working knowledge of computers; proficient in Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communications skills.
• Good attention to detail and reliability.
• Must have a valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision.
• Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work.
• Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages.
• Assist in field surveying and work layout support including elevations, control points, and as-built data.
• Assist in compiling daily labor timesheets.
• Assist in the preparation of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s).
• Assist in providing solutions related to underground tunneling and construction operations.
• Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training.
• Order and schedule material deliveries.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite.
• Supervise field operations.
• Perform material takeoffs and basic engineering calculations to support field operations.
• Assist engineers with data for submittals and customer communications.
• Prepare purchase orders and subcontracts; assist in solicitations and purchasing as requested.
• Maintain project records, daily reports, RFIs, and memorandums.
• Enter data into the job cost system and review cost reports with management.
• Assist in generating change orders and as-built data for Project Manager review.
