Job summary

Kiewit invites an Office Engineer Intern to participate in hands-on learning within its Bridge & Marine District. The role focuses on construction management tasks such as reviewing drawings, submittals, schedules, takeoffs, pay requests and project documentation.

You will gain exposure to estimating, scheduling, safety programs, and owner relations while developing essential skills for a future full-time construction career. This is a full-time, temporary internship.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management or related.
• Willingness to travel and relocate as needed.
• Ability to work full-time during the summer (May–August).
• Demonstrated ethics and integrity; safety comes first.

Responsibilities

• Work with a diverse team to build, estimate, and schedule civil, grading, utilities, roadway, and structural construction.
• Support administrative and construction activities; review proposals, specifications and drawings; perform material takeoffs; prepare cost estimates; attend pre-bid meetings.
• Learn to supervise subcontractors and communicate with vendors.
• Prepare work plans, assure quality control, manage costs and materials, schedule equipment, and maintain owner relations.
• Maintain records on job progress, costs and material usage; plan and schedule job segments.
• Review plans and specs to determine material requirements and pricing; work with suppliers to facilitate delivery.
