Job summary

Essintial seeks a T2 Technician to deliver hands-on network, cabling, and field technology support at commercial sites. You will manage CAT5e/Cat6 work, configure devices, and provide deskside and end-user support across diverse environments.

The role requires independent work, strong documentation, and flexible scheduling with substantial travel. Ideal candidates bring 3–5 years of relevant experience and readiness for early starts and physical demands.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in low-voltage cabling, telecommunications, IT support, network installation, field services, or a related discipline.
• Hands-on experience with Cat5e/Cat6 installation, termination, testing, labeling, and troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, PoE) and basic firewall/switch concepts.
• Ability to work independently with network infrastructure and complete tasks without continuous on-site supervision.
• Familiarity with Windows operating systems and basic IT troubleshooting steps.
• Ability to read and follow technical instructions, diagrams, port maps, and project documentation.
• Proficiency with standard cabling tools and basic diagnostics (ping/traceroute).
• Strong communication, documentation, and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening.
• Early-morning availability and occasional weekend work; regional travel up to 75%.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work on ladders up to 12 feet.

Responsibilities

• Install, terminate, test, label, route, dress, and troubleshoot Cat5e/Cat6 cabling per project requirements.
• Install and support racks, patch panels, switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless APs.
• Provide deskside support for desktops, laptops, printers, and peripherals.
• Assist with deployments, imaging, upgrades, and hardware replacement.
• Support user account setup and basic application troubleshooting.
• Toubleshoot cabling, connectivity, and end-user technology issues.
• Read wiring diagrams and project procedures; follow documentation.
• Use deployment tools to complete work and document results.
• Coordinate with customers, site contacts, and project teams.
• Complete photos, work orders, and project documentation on time.
• Maintain safety and a clean work area; adapt to project needs.
