Job summary

Georgetown University is seeking a Smart Hands Engineer to provide on‑the‑ground support for the university's network and telecom infrastructure. The role blends field work with strategic planning to sustain reliable IT services across campuses and international sites.

You will work with the Network Engineering team, maintain inventories and RMAs, review infrastructure, and ensure change control and incident processes are followed. On‑campus role with physical requirements and mobility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of experience in network/telecommunications infrastructure support.
• Experience with network monitoring tools (Meraki, SolarWinds, Nagios).
• Proficiency in maintaining physical network equipment inventories and RMAs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Network Engineering on designing solutions for network systems.
• Develop and maintain cabling and telecommunication standards.
• Review telecom rooms for conditions and address issues.
• Acquire and submit quotes from IT cabling contractors.
• Manage physical network equipment inventory and RMA processes.
• Use network monitoring tools to identify and address failing equipment.
• Follow change control, incident management, and ticketing processes.
