Job summary

UL Solutions is seeking a Field Engineer to perform risk-based inspections and certifications for fire safety equipment. You will witness testing on pumps, ladders, and platforms, and assess compliance with UL standards at customer sites across multiple locations.

The role requires English fluency, strong mechanical/electrical aptitude, and the ability to work independently while traveling to client sites in Northeast Wisconsin and Appleton, WI. A Level II NDT background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Fluency in English is required.
• NDT Level II experience with MT, VT, UT preferred.
• Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude and technical ability.
• Excellent verbal communication and client-facing skills.
• Ability to work indoors/outdoors year-round; travel to sites.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs; work in confined spaces/elevated areas.

Responsibilities

• Witness performance testing of pumps and electrical systems on fire apparatus.
• Perform safety and non-safety certification inspections and evaluate results.
• Use technical judgment to assess noncompliance variations.
• Audit customer quality management programs as needed.
• Exercise independent discretion in technical decisions and verify equipment accuracy.
• Review production and inspection records to ensure UL compliance.
• Facilitate corrective actions for variations from UL requirements.
• Communicate procedures and test results with manufacturers and customers.
• Discuss test methods, results, and variations to resolve problems or develop new requirements.
• Use UL-supplied equipment to perform inspections and ensure calibration.
• Document examination and test results on UL forms.
• Adhere to UL Code of Conduct and security practices.
