Job summary

GVEC is seeking a Metering Technician I to monitor low, medium, and high-voltage substation and distribution electric systems. You will perform fieldwork including switching, equipment maintenance and calibration under minimal supervision.

The role requires handling residential/commercial metering, high-voltage metering, and advanced diagnostics. Starting pay is $27.00/hr with bonuses tied to organizational benchmarks, determined by skills and experience.

Qualifications

Must have practical experience with electrical testing equipment and procedures.
Strong knowledge of electrical safety regulations and practices.
Ability to read electrical schematics, diagrams and manuals.
Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail and precision in field work.

Responsibilities

Perform field installations, testing and routine maintenance of standard residential and commercial metering.
Handle high-voltage/complex primary metering and AMI configurations.
Maintain high-voltage transmission/substation metering and transformer-rated installations.
Conduct meter testing including complex multi-vector and transformer testing.
Perform repairs and replacements of faulty components with safety compliance.
Collaborate with engineers and supervisors on maintenance strategies.
