Job summary

FirstEnergy’s Mon Power is seeking a Field Meter Reader to read residential meters, report irregularities, and support storm restoration. You will drive your own AWD/4WD, travel within 40 minutes of the service center, and perform meter exchanges and reconnections as required.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and good communication skills. Previous meter reading experience is preferred and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must live within 40 minutes of the reporting service center.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
• Meter reading experience preferred.
• Must own and use all‑wheel or four‑wheel drive vehicle (eligible for mileage reimbursement).
• Ability to drive and walk safely in all weather and terrains.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Read meters installed at customer premises, report service diversions and meter irregularities.
• Perform collection activities when assigned.
• Perform single phase reconnects, disconnects and meter exchanges when assigned.
• Support storm restoration efforts as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
