Job summary

Thompson Engineering seeks a seasoned MEP Inspector to perform field inspections and QA/QC for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing on diverse projects. You will verify conformance with drawings, codes, and submittals, documenting deficiencies and coordinating with project teams to prevent impact to schedule and cost.

The role emphasizes strong field experience, proactive issue identification, and clear reporting to support turnover and commissioning activities.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of MEP construction, inspection, commissioning, or QA/QC experience.
• Experience in commercial, industrial, institutional, healthcare, manufacturing, or data center construction.
• Able to read/interpret drawings, specs, equipment schedules, one-lines, P&IDs, and submittals.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Proficient with Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of MEP installations.
• Review activities for compliance with plans, specs, submittals, and codes.
• Inspect MEP rough-in, equipment installation, supports, penetrations, piping, ductwork, electrical and plumbing systems.
• Verify equipment and systems are properly installed prior to concealment.
• Document inspection results and corrective actions; prepare daily reports.
