What You’ll Do

• Provide expert reviews for cardiovascular cases, focusing on invasive/interventional procedures that do not meet initial medical necessity guidelines or require further evaluation.
• Conduct peer-to-peer discussions with providers to ensure appropriate, high-value care aligned with guidelines.
• Collaborate with leadership and staff to address complex cases and support decision-making.
• Guide Initial Clinical Reviewers to ensure best practices.
• Provide clinical rationale for appeals and discuss determinations with requesting physicians within regulatory timeframes.
• Utilize clinical guidelines to ensure consistency and compliance with policies and accreditation standards.
• Document all communications accurately and timely.
• Participate in ongoing training and research activities related to utilization management.
• Potentially serve as Medical Director for certain regions, accountable for utilization management efforts.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MBBS Degree with current, unrestricted license.
• Board certification in Interventional Cardiology or equivalent qualifications.
• At least 5 years of cardiology practice preferred.
• Strong clinical, management, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with computers.
• No exclusions or sanctions from healthcare programs or legal actions.

Technical Requirements

High-speed internet (>10 Mbps) and direct connection to home router are required. These may change with office re-openings.
