Cardiovascular Utilization Management Reviewer (Interventional Cardiologist)

Join our Utilization Management team as a Field Medical Director, Cardiovascular Specialist, and use your expertise in interventional cardiology to ensure high-value, evidence-based case reviews. What You’ll Do

• Provide expert reviews for cardiovascular cases, including invasive/interventional procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, coronary interventions, endovascular procedures, and implantable devices.
• Conduct peer-to-peer discussions with providers to ensure appropriate, high-value care aligned with guidelines.
• Collaborate with leadership and clinical staff on complex cases and decision-making.
• Guide Initial Clinical Reviewers to ensure best practices.
• Provide clinical rationale for appeals.
• Discuss determinations with requesting physicians within regulatory timeframes.
• Use medical review guidelines to ensure consistency and compliance with policies and accreditation standards.
• Document all communications accurately and timely.
• Participate in ongoing training and quality assurance activities.
• Assist the Senior Medical Director with research and systemic questions related to utilization management.
• Potentially serve as Medical Director for specific health plans or regions, overseeing utilization management activities.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MBBS Degree with current, unrestricted license.
• Active Board Certification in Interventional Cardiology or equivalent qualifications.
• Minimum of five years’ practice in cardiology preferred.
• Strong clinical, management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in computer systems.
• No current exclusions or sanctions by health care programs or legal actions against medical licensing boards.

Technical Requirements

High-speed internet (>10 Mbps) and direct connection capability for call center employees. These requirements are subject to change.
