Job summary

Plains is seeking a Junior Mechanical Technician to perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on pumps, valves, engines, and related equipment in field locations. The role involves keeping maintenance records, aligning pump components, and following safety procedures in environments with heat, cold, and potential hazards.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent and may be in the first year of a related trades apprenticeship.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Entering or completed 1st year of related trades apprenticeship program.
Relevant work experience preferred.
Ability to read/interpret drawings, schematics, and manuals.
Strong teamwork and communication in a field setting.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment.
Proficient with Excel and basic computer skills.
Familiarity with safety and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

Performs maintenance, upkeep and cleaning of facilities and equipment including pumps, engines, valves, and motors.
Performs routine scheduled and unscheduled equipment maintenance with guidance from others.
Service and lubricate mechanical equipment; conduct lockouts.
Carry out preventative maintenance on pumps and rotating equipment per vendor guidelines.
Maintain records in CMMS (Maximo) and track wear/repair trends.
Demonstrate safe work practices and report hazards.
Assist with other pipeline-related duties as needed.
