Job summary

Hanley Energy in Ashburn, VA is seeking a Field Technician to visit customer sites and troubleshoot mechanical equipment in a hyperscale data center landscape. You will work with team members and stakeholders to meet key customer objectives and complete technical documentation.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of experience with mechanical systems and is motivated, detail oriented, and mechanically curious. Travel up to 25% is required. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of industry experience with mechanical systems including heat exchangers, air handlers, pumps, fans, valves and controls instrumentation.
• Technical degrees/certifications in STEM, MEP, or SCADA.
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
• Experience commissioning HVAC, cooling, or critical infrastructure systems.
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as in teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.
• Knowledge of IRHX/Heat Exchanger systems and heat transfer principles (preferred).
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings (preferred).
• Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) and controls integration (preferred).
• Knowledge of LV electrical systems and safe isolation procedures (preferred).
• Experience performing functional testing, start-up, and commissioning activities (preferred).
• Understanding of data center cooling infrastructure (preferred).
