Job summary

Ames Construction, Inc. is seeking a Field Mechanic to service heavy civil and industrial equipment in remote field locations across project sites in the United States.

You will troubleshoot, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on CAT and John Deere machines, while coordinating with operators and supervisors to keep projects on schedule. The role requires 3–5 years of hands-on experience, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to travel extensively.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of heavy construction equipment maintenance and repair experience.
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
• Experience with Cat and John Deere equipment is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, diesel engine, and powertrain systems.
• Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
• Ability to read service manuals and schematics.
• Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
• Willingness to travel to multiple project locations and work away from home for extended periods.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heavy construction equipment in field environments.

• Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, drivetrains, electrical systems, and undercarriage components.
• Respond to breakdowns and emergency service calls at project sites.

• Conduct equipment safety inspections and ensure safety standards.
