Job summary

Ames Construction in North Carolina seeks a skilled Equipment Maintenance Technician to service heavy construction gear, perform inspections, and maintain fluid levels. You will assist field mechanics, manage inventory, and ensure safety standards are met on site.

Ideal candidates have 1–3 years of equipment maintenance experience and familiarity with Caterpillar or Deere equipment. This role requires outdoor work, occasionally long hours, and travel as project needs require.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience servicing heavy construction equipment preferred.
• Knowledge of lubrication, fuel and hydraulic systems and preventive maintenance.
• CDL preferred and valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily fueling, greasing, and lubrication of heavy construction equipment.
• Conduct pre-operation and post-operation inspections on equipment.
• Check and maintain fluid levels including engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and fuel.
• Inspect equipment for leaks, excessive wear, damage, and potential safety hazards.
• Report mechanical issues and maintenance needs to equipment managers and mechanics.
• Assist field mechanics with repairs and preventative maintenance activities.
• Maintain inventory of fuel, lubricants, filters, and service supplies.
• Follow all company, OSHA, DOT, and project-specific safety requirements.
• Participate in daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
• Support equipment mobilization and setup as needed.
