Job summary

G.R. Birdwell Construction is seeking a full-time Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic in Houston, TX. The role requires hands-on repair of heavy equipment, diagnosing issues, and performing corrective, preventive, and breakdown maintenance in outdoor construction environments.

Applicants should be able to work in all weather, read diagnostics, and communicate repairs clearly. Certifications in diesel mechanics are a plus but not required, with benefits including health insurance and retirement

Qualifications

• Experience with gas & diesel engines, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with computer diagnostics and various makes and models of equipment.
• Ability to communicate and diagnose repairs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair of equipment as needed.
• Log service repairs on equipment. Understanding of corrective, PM, and breakdown repairs.
• Understand and follow OSHA guidelines of equipment and PPE.
• Operate equipment when needed.
