APAC-AL, Inc., part of CRH’s South Division, seeks a Field Mechanic in Dothan, AL to repair and maintain road construction equipment, trucks, paving machines and related machinery. You will diagnose defects, dismantle parts, weld and install components, and perform preventive maintenance on heavy equipment.

The role requires reading basic instructions, arithmetic skills, and the ability to handle physically demanding tasks in a safety‑minded environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Responsibilities

• Operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists and hand tools.
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.

This is a skilled position involving making repairs to and maintaining road construction equipment and mechanical equipment such as trucks, trailers, batch plants, paving machines, bulldozers, engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, asphalt paving and other equipment by performing the following duties
