Job summary

Canyon Falls Farm is seeking a skilled Field Mechanic to maintain and repair farm equipment, support field activities, and lead equipment-related tasks. The role emphasizes safe operation and preventive maintenance in a dynamic farm setting.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of experience with farm machinery, welding, diesel engines, and electrical systems, plus a valid driver’s license. Bilingual skills are a plus as are strong safety practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience maintaining and repairing farm or heavy equipment.
  • Experience with welding and fabrication (MIG, stick, gas).
  • Diesel engines, tractors, and farm equipment.
  • Basic electrical systems (equipment and facilities).
  • Small engine repair and general mechanical work.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment with limited supervision.
  • Knowledge of agricultural operations and equipment use.
  • Ability to read manuals, diagrams, and safety information (MSDS, labels).
  • Strong communication skills (Spanish a plus).
  • Knowledge of safety practices, including lockout/tagout.
  • Ability to use common tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, maintain, and repair farm equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and ensure equipment is ready for use.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
  • Fabricate and weld equipment and irrigation system repairs as needed.
  • Set up and adjust equipment to ensure proper and efficient operation.
  • Support use and set up of GPS and precision agriculture equipment.
  • Train operators on proper use of equipment to improve efficiency.
  • Lead and support crews in equipment‑related tasks and central operations.
  • Assist with field activities such as preparation, planting, and harvest.
  • Promote safe work practices and address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
  • Participate in safety meetings and support a strong safety culture.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Canyon Falls Farm is seeking a capable Field Mechanic to join our local farm team!

Summary:

The Field Mechanic maintains and repairs farm equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation. Leads equipment setup, troubleshooting, and operator training while supporting field activities such as planting and harvest.
