Job summary

Townes Site Engineering is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Field Technician for our Midlothian office. You will observe contractors on construction sites and perform basic field soil and concrete tests under the direction of other technicians or engineers to ensure testing aligns with project specifications.

Responsibilities include performing field testing, preparing comprehensive reports, and communicating with clients and staff.

Qualifications

• Some construction experience is required.
• Prior field testing experience is preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• ACI Level I Concrete, State DOT, WACEL, ICC certifications are a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, safety rules, and procedures.
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to perform calculations for field and lab tests and equipment.
• Must be able to work independently and in teams.
• Must be detail oriented and able to lift up to 70 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Perform field materials testing of soil, asphalt, and concrete.
• Prepare detailed field reports with test results and observations.
• Perform basic lab tests on soil and concrete and report results.
• Evaluate site conditions and provide recommendations.
• Communicate with clients, contractors, and staff regarding construction issues.
