Job summary

Consolidated Engineering Laboratories (CEL) is seeking a Materials Technician 1 (MT1) to support the Salt Lake City, UT team. You will perform QA/QC testing including soil density, concrete sampling, and asphalt density testing, following project plans and specs.

Work hours typically 7:00am–5:00pm, with potential swing and night shifts. Travel to job sites as needed and maintain thorough documentation for regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Prefer candidate with 2+ years' experience in the testing and inspection industry.
• Obtained ACI 1 certification, nuke gauge certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform concrete sampling and soil and asphalt density testing in accordance with project plans and specifications.
• Sample soil and asphalt for transportation to our laboratory for sample testing and analysis.
• Review construction documents, mix designs, density requirements to ensure compliance.
• Document testing/sampling activities and prepare detailed daily field reports.
• Identify deficiencies or non-compliant work and communicate findings to contractors, engineers, and project managers.
• Conduct follow-up testing services to confirm corrective actions have been completed.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation meets regulatory requirements.
