What you'll do:
As a Field Manager, Customer Service at QXO, you will be responsible for delivering on company commitments in the field by managing pre- and post-installation jobsite activities for both window and door operations. This role serves as a key liaison between ABS and builders, ensuring quality installation, accurate field measurements, proactive issue resolution, and excellent customer service in new single-family home construction.
Pre-Construction / Pre-Walk Responsibilities
- Receive scheduled job sites and complete pre-walks 1–2 weeks prior to installation.
- Review plans via OneDrive using a mobile device in the field.
- Complete digital pre-inspection walk sheets for windows and doors.
- Inspect rough openings (ROs), framing, and overall job readiness.
- Identify and document issues including measurements, defects, or discrepancies.
- Mark problem areas clearly on-site when necessary.
- Take photos of issues in mobile Field application.
- Communicate findings proactively to Superintendents and Installation Department.
- Ensure issues are addressed prior to installation.
- Perform lot-specific take-offs and verify material requirements.
Installation & Field Coordination
- Act as the primary point of contact between ABS and builders/superintendents.
- Coordinate with Order Entry, Service/Warranty, and Installation departments.
- Submit Extra Purchase Order (EPO) requests when builder-related issues arise.
- Identify and communicate additional material needs.
- Approve Extra Purchase Orders (EPOs) for add-ons or field changes.
- Request material pickups through Order Entry.
- Ensure all work aligns with customer specifications and building codes.
Post-Installation / Post-Walk Responsibilities
- Conduct post-walk inspections after installation.
- Review pre-walk notes to confirm all issues were resolved.
- Complete installation quality checklists.
- Identify installation defects.
- Document issues with photos and notes.
- Submit service or fill-in tickets for corrections.
- Communicate issues to key stakeholders.
- Ensure timely resolution of outstanding issues.
General Responsibilities
- Maintain proactive communication with builders and internal teams.
- Train and support new Field Managers when required.
- Research causes of recurring issues.
- Follow safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
- Perform daily vehicle inspections.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
What you'll bring:
- 2+ years of experience in construction or building materials.
- Strong understanding of window and door installation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Proficiency in measurements and basic math.
- Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel).
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Effective communication both verbal and written.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, or a related field preferred
- 3–5 years of progressive customer service, inside sales, account support, or related experience preferred
- Previous supervisory or people-leadership experience preferred
- Experience within building materials, construction supply, wholesale distribution, manufacturing, or a related industry preferred
- Experience managing customer orders, fulfillment issues, returns, credits, and delivery coordination
- Familiarity with ERP, CRM, order-management, or customer service systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Experience monitoring customer service metrics or implementing process improvements is a plus
Work Environment and Requirements
- Frequent work on construction sites with exposure to noise, heat, humidity, and machinery. Occasional extended hours required.
- Ability to lift, stand, walk, and sit for extended periods across job sites and facilities.
