Job summary

Chartis Federal is seeking a Field Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on U.S. Customs and Border Protection mobile surveillance systems, including MVSS and MSC variants, across southern and northern border operations.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, fault isolation, and sustainment support of tactical communications and Land Mobile Radio equipment, with up to 25% travel. A valid driver’s license and 3+ years in related roles are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in tactical communications installation and integration.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license; travel to repair sites.
• Must satisfy CBP pre-screening and background requirements.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, outdoors work; extreme weather tolerance.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mobile surveillance systems.
• Troubleshoot and restore proprietary system software to full operation.
• Assist in recovery of surveillance systems mounted on vehicles.
• Manage forward-deployed spares and document actions in ILSS/Maximo.
• Support installation, testing, programming, and troubleshooting of LMR/tactical comms.
• Escalate issues within 48 hours to supervisor; provide help line support.
• Travel up to 25% locally/regionally to maintain systems.
• Operate tools and equipment (gantry cranes, forklifts) safely.
