Job summary

Chartis Federal is seeking a Field Maintenance Technician to perform preventive and corrective maintenance, fault isolation, and sustainment support for U.S. Customs and Border Protection mobile surveillance systems.

The role covers approximately 165 MVSS/MVSS-R and 90 MSC/MSC-Lite units across border operations, focusing on mobile platforms, communications, and Land Mobile Radio systems. The position requires hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair, with duties including software

Qualifications

3+ years in tactical communications install/maintenance or equivalent.
Valid state driver’s license required for site travel.
Crane operation certification or ability to obtain within 180 days.
Ability to lift >50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather.

Responsibilities

Perform preventive/corrective maintenance and fault isolation on mobile surveillance systems.
Troubleshoot and restore proprietary system software to full operation.
Assist with recovery of surveillance systems mounted on vehicles and at sites.
Maintain documentation in ILSS/Maximo and manage spare parts.
Support installation, integration, testing, and troubleshooting of LMR/tactical comms equipment.
Escalate unresolved issues within 48 hours to supervisor.
Travel locally/regionally up to 25% to support operations.
Operate tools and equipment (gantry cranes, jacks, hoists) safely.
