Job summary

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) seeks a skilled maintenance technician to repair electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, and more across facilities. The role includes servicing vehicles and heavy machinery, and operating earth-moving equipment for land management tasks.

You will lead small projects, train others, and maintain maintenance records while supporting refuge operations and habitat restoration efforts.

Qualifications

Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision.
Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc.
Technical practices (theoretical precise, artistic).
Use of measuring instruments.
Ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (blueprints reading).
Ability to use and maintain tools and equipment.
Knowledge of materials and vehicle operation.

Responsibilities

Repair electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, roofing, masonry, painting, and welding.
Maintain and repair vehicles, heavy machinery, small engines, and equipment.
Operate heavy equipment and motor vehicles for earth-moving and land management tasks.
Lead small projects by planning steps, training others, and maintaining records.
Support refuge operations, habitat restoration, and fencing/sign installation.
