Job summary

In-Place Machining Company (IPM) is seeking a Field Machinist II to bring precision field machining to customer facilities across the United States and beyond. You will operate and maintain specialized equipment, read blueprints, and collaborate with engineers and customers to solve complex, high-precision challenges on diverse projects.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years of field/manual machining, experience with Bridgeport mills and manual lathes, and a strong focus on safety and quality.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of manual machining and/or field machining experience.
  • Bridgeport mills and manual engine lathes experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Proficient with precision measuring instruments and inspection tools.
  • Knowledge of cutting tools, materials, feeds, speeds, and machining practices.
  • Experience using hand tools, power tools, and rigging equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • High School Diploma, GED, or HSED.
  • Technical degree or Journeyman certification.
  • Previous field machining experience.
  • Industrial maintenance or heavy equipment experience.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • OSHA 10 Certification (provided by IPM)
  • Forklift Certification (provided by IPM)
  • IPM Overhead Crane Training Certification
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively, including occasional weekends.
  • Comfortable using mobile technology for timekeeping, expenses, and project reporting.

What You'll Do

As a Field Machinist II, you'll bring precision machining directly to customer facilities where critical equipment can't be moved.

Responsibilities Include
  • Performing precision field machining on industrial equipment
  • Operating and maintaining specialized machining equipment
